Ken Byrne.jpg

Prof. Dr. Ken Byrne is the mentor on the EPA funded CH4 Peat project. Dr. Ken Byrne is a Associate Professor in University of Limerick and has extensive experience in peatland GHG
monitoring and soil carbon sequestration. Dr. Byrne major research focuses on the impact of land use and land use change on soil carbon stocks and GHG emissions. Other interests include carbon storage in harvested wood products, forest ecosystem services and nutrient stores in forest biomass. He has supervised several postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers and authored 62 articles
(> 3900 citations,
a h-index of 26 and an i10 index of 46). He is author of three IPCC reports (2003 GPG for LULUCF; 2006 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories; 2013 wetland Supplement) and recently authored IPBES reports. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the recently launched journal, PLOS Climate.
